Just got to the end of my new piece for the Pennsylvania Girlchoir, a setting of a certain poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
Although there’s still lots and lots of work to do now that I’ve hit that double bar, I love hitting double bars, I love hitting double bars, I love hitting double bars.
Let me count the ways.
Kile:
I Loved your epigraph — Vaughn Williams or Andy Williams — where can one hear a performance of your setting for Browning’s poem? If the music matches your lyrical depiction,
it must be moving indeed!

Thanks, Joe, I was thinking of those TV Christmas specials, which encapsulate the melange of harmonies that I grew up with. So “Andy Williams” was a vague recollection, but the Vaughan Williams is quite specific. I try to love everything, or at least try to discover why certain things have stuck with me. The PA Girlchoir will start rehearsing this soon and will work it into their season. Will keep you posted!
